Carlos Ortiz, PharmD
Dr. Carlos Ortiz was born in Guayaquil, Ecuador. After graduating from a Navy High School in Ecuador, Dr. Ortiz was accepted to medical school for a year and then received a student visa to come to the United States to study. He attended Brewton-Parker College – Georgia with a bachelor’s in science majoring in Biology and minoring in Chemistry. He then completed a Doctor of Pharmacy at the Medical University of South Carolina. After graduation in 2020 he joined Retina Consultants of Charleston as Director of Clinical Trials at the Ladson, Beaufort, Mount Pleasant, and West Ashley locations.
Dr. Ortiz enjoys spending his free time coaching soccer for South Carolina Surf Soccer, where he is the North Area Director of Little surfers and Junior Academy coach and Select coach for boys’ and girls’ teams. He loves spending time with his family and his 2 great Danes.
